Today our new Search Explorer took its first baby steps into trying to index real search results. Although on the 23rd of October we launched Search Explorer in time for Pubcon, we said at the time that we were working with a limited data set. We have now rolled the results out to include URLs from our Fresh index. Not bad when you consider our search offering is less than three weeks old!

We now expect to see the results getting a little more stable from day to day and we can now start to tune ranking algorithms. We expect the quality of the results to jump quite quickly when we do that.

If you type in a search term that yields no results, please don’t be alarmed. Although our index is many billions of URLs, our search DICTIONARY is going to be dictated, in part, by what you search for. This means that if you enter a search we will assimilate it and add it to the dictionary. The initial assimilation will take a while, but after that the results should be lightening fast.

    Hi Dixon Jones,
About this “new research” assimilation you talk about, do you mean that each search are going to be save to improve your database, in order to have better results ? Then, why don’t you add (maybe) an external software ? Anyway it’s seems good. Thanks for all your support and development here.

      Hi,

What Dixon means to say is that keywords used to search that are not yet in our dictionary will be automatically added to it in order to provide results (if we have them) after index is updated.
