Fresh Index Grows With A New Algorithm Tweak

Another technology leap just happened at Majestic.

Eagle eyed customers may have noticed increases in referrer domain counts across the board in our Fresh Index over the last few days. For example the chart below shows big increases in referring domains pointing to Google.DE:

As you can see on this chart we’ve increased coverage of that domain as measured by referring domains by a good 50%! Throughout October you will see continued deployment of this new technology on our system and we expect big increases in referring domains across all of our datasets included in fresh index.

So how did we do it? We’ve been extensively testing a new algorithm designed to dramatically increase coverage within the Fresh Index. Our primary focus was to increase the referring domain counts, rather than back links on this occasion. Pure back-link counts on their own can be a very misleading metric.
